On June 4th 2019, more than 150 people attended the Oakland City Council hearing to Decriminalize Entheogenic Plants and Fungi. For the first time in history, more than 50 people spoke openly about their sacred healing experiences, their unalienable right to have their own relationship with nature, and their desire to liberate plant and fungi use from unreasonable prohibition. This historic evening led to a unanimous vote by the council to decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi in Oakland.
To celebrate this day, from here forward, Decriminalize Nature will honor this historic moment annually on June 4th. Tomorrow, June 4th 2020, Decriminalize Nature will be hosting an online virtual meeting co-hosted by Oakland-based Spearitwurx called Healing from Within: A reset from racial trauma and the role of the psychedelic community. At the end of the virtual meeting, Spearitwurx will drop a new Decriminalize Nature track fresh off the press, entitled "Beyond the Loop: Plant Power to the People".
We are also excited to announce the First official Decriminalize Nature Annual Summit, next year from June 4-6, 2021, at 1440 Retreat Center in Santa Cruz, CA . We will celebrate the healing power of our natural allies on this day and invite representatives from all DN cities across the world to join for a weekend of movement building, education, and celebration. Please save the date, more info coming soon!
